What Am I All About?
Hello readers,
To start off my first ever blog I feel its important for you all to get a better understanding and feel of who I am and what I am all about! My name is Bryce Keilback, a 2nd year senior year stream faculty of education student at Brandon University where I will be graduating this spring 2020. My teachable subjects are Physical education and Biology. These subjects correlate to my undergraduate degree of a Bachelor's of science in Exercise Science that I obtained from Dickinson State Univeristy in North Dakota. While completing my undergraduate degree I had the opportunity to continue my athletic career on a football scholarship alongside my studies. This is a opportunity I will always cherish especially the memories, experiences and life long relaitonships I made during this time. Throughout my time thus far in the educaiton program I have had the opportunity to complete 3 student teaching placements that varied between senior, middle and early year classes. All my placements were great opportunities for me to develop as a teacher and practice different teaching methods and strategies.
Thats enough of my educational backgroud, now to share who I am outside of school. I have to stay busy doing something! Most activities are related to sports, travel, work, or spending time with my girlfreind, freinds and family. The past 8 years I have been a certified swim instructor and lifegaurd. I currently work at the local city pool, during my time as a university student. I am currently in the process of transitioning into becoming certified to instruct lifeguard and swim instructor courses that I can administer alongside being a teacher next year and into the future.
Sport and fitness is a passion of mine. I am either working out, watching/playing sports, or coaching to stay as involved as I can, this is the passion that has lead me to become a physical educator. I have stayed involved in sport the past 3 years cordinating the offence for the football team at one of the local high schools in town. This has been a great outlet to give back the sport that has opened so many opportunities for myself and develop myself around coaching. During the summers you can catch me golfing any chance I can and during the winter I enjoy skating and snowboarding in the mountains. I hope as an physical educator I can share my passion for sport with my students, and create the same passions that I have. Always being on the go additionally means I like to check out new places and travel. I have been to 16 differnet countries and many different states or provinces across North america. I feel travel allows individuals to gain new prespectives and insight around the world.
I hope with this blog post you were able to get a better understanding of who I am as a person and professional. I'm hoping you are ready to follow my journey as I transistion from a education student to my first teaching postion in the future. I will be planning to post as often as I can and hold myself accountable to atlest posting once a month moving forward.
Thank you for reading,
BK
